About GNODRP

The History:

Since the initial landfall of Hurricane Katrina, a growing number of agencies from the public and private sector have been working together to help meet the needs of recovering residents located in the Greater New Orleans area and those who have been displaced elsewhere. GNODRP was formed in November of 2005 and has become a collaboration of 60 plus agencies from the Interfaith, Non Profit and Government sector, strongly committed to assisting people devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

General Membership includes:

  • Representatives from each participating parish long term recovery committee
  • Religious/Faith Based Organizations
  • Disaster Response Agencies
  • Social and Human Services Agencies
  • Government Liaisons
  • Advocacy Groups

 

Guiding Principles

  • Local focus and involvement – Information and creativity fostered by the Parish Committees
  • Interfaith and Community based - others included
  • Local leadership – expanded and developed
  • Unmet Needs addressed
  • Decisions driven by data – accurate population studies and needs assessments

GNODRP Information gathering / sharing is currently being established between agencies to track the progress of individuals and families. Through this collaboration, funding entities are working together to bring in more resources to help meet the needs of area residents.

 
The Mission of the Greater New Orleans Disaster Recovery Partnership (GNODRP) is to regionally support long term recovery and preparedness.
