Who can join GNODRP?
Any nonprofit agency or resource group that supports clients in one or more of our member parishes in any stage of a disaster. (Please see How to Join our Partnership under the Get Involved Tab for more information)
How can an organization join GNODRP?
Any organization committed to the purposes of GNODRP, upon signing and submitting to GNODRP a commitment letter is afforded membership as a member agency.
Is GNODRP membership for New Orleans organizations only?
No, any organization involved in the disaster recovery work of New Orleans and its surrounding areas can become a member agency of GNODRP, as long as it is committed to the purposes of GNODRP. All member agencies must sign and submit an agency commitment letter and their code of conduct forms to GNODRP.
Is GNODRP membership open for non-profit organizations only?
Non-profit, faith based, secular organizations, and participating Unmet Needs/Long Term Recovery Committees committed to the purposes of GNODRP may be Member Agencies or Organizations upon signing and submitting to GNODRP a commitment letter. We also partner with government however they are not eligible to vote as other members.
Are there fees required to join GNODRP?
Currently, no fees are required for membership in GNODRP; however, we do expect that you will be an active participant in our committees, general membership meetings, survey’s, data collection, advocacy, LTRO roundtables and/or other activities.
Does GNODRP provide funding to other organizations?
Presently, GNODRP does not provide direct funding to any other organization; however, as we continue to grow we expect to utilize our collective voice in raising funds for the region as a whole which may include giving dollars we raise to participating partner agencies.
What is the benefit of being a member of GNODRP?
There are several benefits for joining GNODRP, including:
- Collaboration and Networking with local and national agencies working in the Greater New Orleans region to support the recovery efforts throughout the area
- Support for your agencies clients through a shared Case Management and Resource Distribution process
- Access to national donated dollars for building materials and other client storm related needs
- Volunteer labor support to rebuild/repair homes for Pre-Katrina Homeowners
- Access to the GNODRP warehouse and the donations that are procured
- On-going training and capacity building opportunities for your agency staff on a variety of case management, disaster preparedness and other related topics
- Fund Raising for community/member agency related goals and shared efforts
Membership Responsibilities
Once you become a member we expect that you will:
- Keep your agency commitment letter and code of conduct forms up to date for each authorized representative and alternate representative
- Actively participate in general membership meetings, applicable committee meetings, and/or the LTRO roundtables
- Whenever possible send agency staff to GNODRP capacity building committees such as Fund Raising and Grant Writing
- Participate in surveys and in sharing aggregate data on your organization as requested or needed
